The Indianola City Council has given direction to city staff on what items will be included in the budget for 2019, with the full budget available to the public on the city website. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the public will have a chance to speak to council before the budget gets voted on.
“We are at the point where we have to have the budget publicly posted for a certain amount of time, so we are in that waiting period. It has been posted, and the public hearing at the council meeting is scheduled for March 4th. So the council will have a public hearing, and once the hearing is closed the council will vote on the budget. We have to get a certified copy of the budget to the state by March 15th, which is a state requirement.
Anyone interested in speaking to council on the budget can attend the March 4th City Council meeting, which begins at 6pm in the council chambers at Indianola City Hall. The budget can be viewed at City Hall at the Clerk’s Office, or at the Indianola Public Library.
