The Pella Christian boys basketball team will have a regular season rematch for a chance at a state tournament berth tonight in the Class 2A Substate Finals.

The Eagles will take on Van Meter in Knoxville. Pella Christian controlled a non conference matchup with the then-undefeated Bulldogs 53-38 on February 2nd in Van Meter.

Head Coach Larry Hessing says each team will pull out all the stops in this contest, as both were holding back some wrinkles when the last played, knowing this rematch was likely to occur.

“Van Meter was without their starting point guard,” Hessing says. “They had a little bit of difficulty with our extended pressures, but obviously, they are going to have a little bit of time to work on that–they’ve probably been working on that already for all I know.”

“It’ll be a different game and it’s going to be a tough game.”
