The City of Indianola is in the midst of a project to update the city codes to comply with state regulations, and also to make searching for city codes much easier for the public. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News this is a process cities have to go through as laws are updated to fit current procedure and technology.
“One of the codes brought up at the council meeting was we have a franchise agreement with cable providers in the community, and the state updated that in 2009 to have a blanket agreement for the state. There are also regulations on licensing bicycles, and we haven’t done that in the city for some time. It doesn’t make sense to have regulations on the books that we are not following or enforcing, so this cleans up those outdated codes.”
Waller also said the project will have residents be able to search for specific parts of city code, rather than having to read through hundreds of pages of a PDF file.
