Knoxville High School’s production of “Little Shop of Horrors” is just days away, and the cast is getting ready to take the stage by sharpening their performances and preparing for dress rehearsals.
The show will run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center; it’s based on the Broadway version of the musical, which has a number of differences from the motion picture many in the audience may be familiar with.
Lane Franck will be playing the role of Seymour alongside Taryn Johnson as Audrey; Lane tells KNIA/KRLS News he’s trying to blend elements of the movie and stage versions with his own idea of how to bring the character to life.
“I’m definitely taking some inspiration from the movies, but I also want to make the character have an aspect of me in it and use some individual traits and some unique traits, and put that into the character,” Lane says.
Asa Leonard plays the role of Mr. Mushnick, and he says things are coming together on stage and behind the scenes as the big weekend approaches.
“It’s going really well; it’s coming up, and so far we’re pretty far along and everything’s going pretty well. Lines are pretty much down, songs are going really well, we’re making a lot of progress. It’s going great,” Asa says.
“Little Shop of Horrors” will run on Friday and Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. with a matinee Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $8 dollars at the door.
