The Indianola School Board met in regular session Monday evening, and once again to an overpacked capacity crowd that saw multiple speakers use over an hour and a half of time during the public comments period.

State Representative Scott Ourth spoke at the meeting in support of permissive language, joined by teachers, students, parents, and members of the community speaking in support of keeping permissive language in the Master Teacher Contract that was not included in the boards first contract proposal. Since it was not an agenda item, the board could not reply to the public on the issue, and Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News that there is a budget negotiation process and that board has to respect that process and let negotiations continue forward.

The board heard a presentation from the Teacher Mentoring Program from new teachers in the district, heard a proposal on making up lost hours from weather cancellations, and received a copy of the preliminary budget proposal.
