All parties in the Jason Carter case gather today for one more pre-trial conference, before the scene shifts to Council Bluffs for his murder trial.
Carter is accused of the June 2015 shooting death of his mother Shirley; he has already been found liable for her death in a civil case, and now faces first-degree murder charges.
The case has been moved out of Marion County as a result of the pre-trial publicity, and the trial will convene next Tuesday.
The court will have to deal with pre-trial motions, and lay out the ground rules for the case; it’s expected to take four weeks, as around one hundred subpoenas have been issued for potential witnesses or other testimony.
