Sirens and lights have been common in Pella this winter as public safety employees and volunteers have responded to numerous accidents in a busy winter season. When Pella Fire Department volunteers are called out, they often travel to the scene or the fire station in personal vehicles. Each car or truck is equipped with blue flashing lights near their rear-view mirror. When responding to an emergency, they also have their vehicle’s hazard lights on. All drivers are reminded to keep a watchful eye for these volunteers, as well as Pella Police Department and Pella Community Ambulance responders. When drivers see the lights, they need to pull over to the right, stop, and wait until the flashing vehicle passes.
