Indianola High School FFA participants who have moved on to the district competition will be performing at Indianola High School this Saturday. Individual performances include conduct of meetings, public speaking, and extemporaneous speaking among others. Agriculture Education teacher Casey Brown tells KNIA News the students participating are learning important life skills that are preparing them for the future.
“The things that we learn in the classroom are also things that apply to real life. So every single student in the classroom might be giving a public speech, or every single student in the classroom learns how to make a motion or vote at a meeting, because it might be some day they are on city council or on a county fair board and need to know how to do parliamentary law. Those things start in the classroom, and from there we get excel those skills with the students who really take hold of those events and become interested in them.”
