Spring is fast approaching, and a returning state qualifying soccer team is getting a jump on the upcoming season.

The Lady Dutch Soccer girls played in a one-day, 12 team 7v7 indoor soccer tournament at William Penn University in Oskaloosa Saturday.

Pella defeated Newton (1-0), Roosevelt-Navy (3-0), Fort Dodge (9-0), Pella Christian (5-0), Roosevelt White in the championship and won 2-0.

The Lady Dutch soccer team made their 12th trip to state and 7th semifinals appearance last year, and return All-State striker Grace Held, defender Josie Lickteig, and goalkeeper Chloe Griffin, among several other starters.

Pella opens the season on April 1st vs. Marshalltown.
