A torrid start to the season for the 2016 Iowa High School Gatorade Player of the Year continued this past weekend. Iowa Hawkeye Junior and Pella High Alumnus Grant Judkins pitched five shutout innings against No. 19 Oklahoma State in his most recent start, which resulted in a 3-2 Iowa win over the Cowboys and a weekend series victory. While a blown save by the Hawks pen took Judkins out of the decision, it marked another strong effort in the young campaign. In his three starts, Grant has given up just six hits and one earned run in 16 innings, with 20 strikeouts. Judkins was named Big Ten Player of the Week and Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week by Diamond Sports in mid-February after he tossed six no-hit innings against Marshall in his debut.
