Jury selection will continue tomorrow in Council Bluffs, in the trial of a Marion County man charged with his mother’s murder.
Opening arguments could begin as early as Friday afternoon in the first-degree murder case against Jason Carter; he’s charged in the June 2015 shooting death of his mother Shirley, in a case which has garnered national attention.
Due to the pre-trial publicity surrounding the case, it was moved out of Knoxville to Council Bluffs; County Attorney Ed Bull and Defense Attorney Christine Branstad have been working to narrow down the jury pool to twelve jurors and two alternates.
Jury selection began on Tuesday, and the trial itself could take at least another three weeks.
