Pella Historical Society and Museums is reopening soon as spring approaches.

Executive Director Valerie Van Kooten says they have had a productive winter, preparing for a busy spring and adding new exhibits to the Historical Village. Van Kooten says they’ll be holding a kick-off event with the history series on Thursday, March 21st, called “meet Maime,” which is about Iowa’s only First Lady. Mamie Eisenhower comes to life when Boone resident Diana Helmer portrays her joys and fears, and her life in the White House.

The event is free and open to the public.
