A successful homecoming for Central College wrestler Cam Timok means the 125-pounder will be an All-American after notching two wins Friday at the NCAA Division III Championships. Teammate Chase Petty, a Pella alumnus, was eliminated from action after a second loss in the consolation quarterfinals. With plenty of wrestling action remaining in Friday night’s Session II, Central was 11th overall with 10 points. Returning to his home state to wrestle for the first time since coming to Central, Timok made quick work of his first round opponent. He pinned York College’s Dylan Nuttall in 88 seconds. In a rematch of the NCAA Division III Lower Midwest Regional final from two weeks ago, Timok notched a takedown with 25 seconds to secure a 3-2 victory over Eron Haynes of Nebraska Wesleyan University in the quarterfinals. In his opening match, Petty was defeated in a 11-1 major decision by No. 7 seed Ben Volsters from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. He bowed out of the tournament with a 4-0 loss against Owen Doster of Wabash College (Ind.) in the consolation quarterfinals. Timok will wrestle in the championship semifinals at the start of Session III, beginning at 10:00 a.m. (EST) today.
