Rounds of rainfall and snowmelt will make county roads difficult to navigate, according to the Marion County Road Department.
The following conditions may be encountered in the area:
-Soft roads, as things begin to thaw.
-Flooding, water may be on the road in unexpected areas from ice plugged culverts or ditches.
-Stream flooding from melting snow, run off, ice jams, and/or rain.
-Refreeze overnight where melting has occurred.
-Frost heave, Frost boils, or other uncharacteristic bumps and soft areas in gravel roads.
There may be issues that the Marion County Road Department may be unable to resolve until the weather changes or the freeze/thaw cycles end. They ask drivers to be patient and to never drive through a flooded roadway. County crews have hauled rock the last two weeks when not clearing or pushing snow.
Their office line is 641-828-2225. Call the Sheriff’s Office for emergency situations at 641-828-2220.
