Two Pella High Graduates and siblings are competing at the 2019 Division II NCAA Swimming Nationals this week.
Isaak Webb, a finance major and junior, will be competing in the 200IM, 100 Fly, 100 Breaststroke and 200 Breaststroke. He was a member of Newton/Pella High team in 2014, 2015, 2016, and the 100 Breaststroke Boys State High School Champion in 2016, 100 Fly runner up in 2015 and state qualifier in multiple events all three years. Webb, a former Hawkeye swimmer, transferred to Lindenwood this academic year after recovering his sophomore year from a hip injury he suffered while competing for the University of Iowa. Isaak is one of 10 individual qualifiers for Lindenwood, the Lion Men are currently ranked 8th in the nation.
Madeline Webb, an Exercise Science pre-chiropractic major, was named to the National team as a relay swimmer. The freshman at Lindenwood missed two months of midseason training due to a severe concussion she sustained during a training accident. Madeline’s history includes competing at the 2015 Iowa Girls High School State Swim Meet when she was a sophomore at Pella High and swam for NCMP, after that she focused on club swimming with the Iowa Flyers in Iowa City where she represented the team at 2018 Junior Nationals and multiple Sectional meets. She is one of 10 women named to the Lindenwood National team, as the Lady Lions are also ranked 8th in the nation.
The NCAA Division II National Swimming Meet begins Tuesday in Indianapolis.
