Indianola and Pleasantville students competed at the State Individual Speech contest Saturday, receiving several top marks.

Indianola had six students receive a division “I” rating. Codey Gillespie in Acting and Improv, Megan Lewiston in Original Oratory, Bella DeVito in Poetry, Ryan Magelhaes in Acting, and Ava Jane Moorlach in Spontaneous Speaking. Kindness Cummins received a “II” in Acting, and Lawrence Foster received a “II” in Improv.

Pleasantville had 11 competitors receive a division “I” rating. Jack Lauer and Melena Johnson in Acting and Storytelling, Grace Stephens in Literary Program, Alyssa McKay in Storytelling and Musical Theatre, Avery Lauer in Reviewing and Prose, Fiona Phipps in Radio News, and Emma Padellford in Prose. Students receiving a “II” rating a the competition included Sierra Hallman in prose, and Tess Ray in Literary Program and Acting.

The All-State Speech list will be released later this week.
