Individual speech performances from Pella, Pella Christian, and PCM high school students rated among the best in Iowa this weekend.

North Scott High School was the host site for the Iowa High School Speech Association Individual State Speech Contest Saturday for schools in the southeast quadrant of Iowa.

Several local performers earned the highest possible score of a division I “excellent” rating from all three judges on a panel — 15 of 28 acts from Pella High School, all 10 performances from Pella Christian, and three PCM actors all hit that mark.

Due to postponements related to weather in northwest Iowa, All-State Speech nominees won’t be announced until this Saturday.
