In an update on the second grade boy who was struck by a van while trying to cross a street near the Knoxville Middle School on March 1, the boy was injured, but is improving.
Early reports were that a woman driving a van was talking on her phone and apparently didn’t see the boy. This statement was later determined to be inaccurate, as other witnesses told police the driver wasn’t on the phone, and their statements were deemed credible, as her phone was hooked up to the vehicle and she was listening to a book.
Initial reports were also that the boy was shook up, and would be OK, and he was transported to the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics as a precaution. It was later determined he suffered a jaw injury. No charges were filed in the accident.
