The Pleasantville School Board met in regular session Tuesday. A preliminary plan for the districts budget has been created and will be posted for public viewing in early April. Upon posting ,it will be impossible for the budget ceiling to be raised higher than the public document indicates.
A plan for the 2019/2020 school calendar was presented and approved.This plan is set to bring back May Term, a week of classes during which teachers are free to choose a cultural or practical subject they are passionate about to share with their students.
A new K-6 math curriculum proposal was given by Elementary Principal Tom Roff that would implement i-Ready materials into Pleasantville Elementary classrooms . Reading scores at the elementary level have grown rapidly in recent years. The goal of this curriculum is to spur a similar improvement in mathematics. Cost of implementing this program is approximately $97,000. The board will make a decision on this proposal in a future meeting.
