central-college-7

After back-to-back rainouts in Tuscon, Arizona earlier in the week the Central College softball team leaned on their defense to come away with a pair of wins on Friday.

The Dutch opened the day with a 4-3 win over Hamline (Minn.) headlined by Lauren Bagby’s two hit and two RBI performance. Central opened with the game’s first four runs in the first three innings and held on late for the win with Danielle Riley picking up the victory giving up two runs in 5 2/3 innings of work. In game two, early offense gave way to stellar pitching en route to a 5-1 win over Trinity (Texas). Mariah Fritz went seven strong in the circle allowing just six hits and one run. Bagby continued to rake at the plate adding two more hits and Shaye Witte went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

The Dutch improve to 3-1 on the season and get back at it against George Fox (Oregon) today. Listen to the game on the KRLS3 Stream at 1:30 p.m.
