Those planning to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day this weekend with alcohol are reminded to do responsibly.

Lt. Paul Haase with the Pella Police Department says anyone planning to drink should have a plan to get home safely.

“We encourage everyone to plan ahead if they’re going out to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day festivities,” he says. “Take a cab, use alternate transportation, or designate a driver.”

He says additional officers will be on the roadway to crack down on drunk drivers, as well as those who are speeding, not wearing their seatbelt, or driving while distracted.
