The Central College softball team fell to George Fox (OR) 4-1 Saturday afternoon before rallying for an 11-2 win over Augsburg (MN) in six innings in a pair of games heard live on the KRLS3 stream at www.kniakrls.com from the Tucson Spring Invitational.

The Dutch struck first against George Fox, taking a 1-0 lead on a Lauren Bagby squeeze bunt. After the Bruins grabbed a 3-0 lead in the fifth, Central got a pair of one-out singles in the sixth and back-to-back hits to lead off the seventh, but couldn’t claw any closer.

Against Augsburg, the Dutch fell behind 2-0, tied the game in the fourth, sent 14 batters to the plate in a nine-run sixth inning to win via the rune rule. Kaitlyn Andresen had a pair of RBI hits, and Sara Tallman had four of Central’s seven stolen bases.

The Dutch are now 4-2 on the season, and they’re back in action Sunday against Gustavus (MN) and LaCrosse (WI), starting at 11am Iowa time.  Trevor Castle will again call the action on the KRLS3 stream at www.kniakrls.com.
