Several Pella boys track and field athletes back at home during spring break were able to continue the indoor season at the Central College High School Invitational Friday.

Dozens of schools from Iowa were represented from Class 1A to 4A, and no team scores were officially kept. Pella’s Mason Heurter had the 2nd longest shot put throw (15.66 meters/51.3 feet), approximately 18 inches behind Iowa City West’s Landon Smith, who had the 5th best throw in 4A last spring. Pella’s 4×400 relay of Colby VanGorp, Josiah Wittenberg, Karl Miller, and David Schouten finished 10th with a time of 3:48.32. Wittenberg also placed 7th out of more than 60 runners in the 3200 meters (10:42.31) and 21st fastest in the 400 meters. Miller had the 8th best 400 meter dash time (54.85). Nick Rus was the fastest in his heat in the 60 meters (7.65). Drew Van Hauen placed 11th overall in the 800 meters (2:11.99).
