National Weather Service Radar of Vermeer tornado
In one week, the National Weather Service in Des Moines will remind people about the dangers of tornadoes, thunderstorms, and flooding. Iowa Severe Weather Awareness Week will be held from March 25th to March 29th, with the statewide tornado drill starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27th. Warning Coordination Meteorologist Kelsey Angle with the National Weather Service says it’s important to review safety protocols and understand the dangers associated with warnings relating to tornadoes and severe thunderstorms. In the event of any severe thunderstorm or tornado warning for any portion of Marion County, 92.1 KRLS is on the air with Severe Weather Action Team coverage, with live updates of ongoing storms, reports from Pella and Knoxville, and forecasts from the WeatherEye Weather Center. Backup generators ensure the coverage stays on if the power goes out.
