The route for day three of RAGBRAI has been released, as thousands of riders will make the trip from Winterset to Indianola on July 23rd. Riders will start the day traveling 16 miles up Highway 169 and Highway G4R to the first Ag Oasis at Howell’s Greenhouse and Pumpkin Patch, located halfway between Winterset and Cumming. After the visit to the Oasis, riders will make the 6.7 mile journey to their first stop in Warren County in Cumming, travel another 5 miles to Norwalk, then another 12.2 miles to Indianola which ends the day. Tuesday is also Parkinson’s Awareness Day on the trip, as it was during RAGBRAI that doctors discovered riding a bicycle can reduce the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease. Tuesday evening in Indianola, Olympic Bronze Medalist and Tour de France stage winner Davis Phinney will be honored. Phinney was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2004.
