The Iowa Knights of Columbus recently held its annual state spelling bee competition at St. Cecilia School in Ames, with two of the four state champions coming from Pella. The top two spellers from seven regional competitions from across the state competed in grades 4 through 7. Winning the 4th grade division was Alex Bishara, son of Lynn and Mark Bishara. Taking first place in the 7th grade division was Chrystalynn Shultz, daughter of David Shultz. Both Alex and Chrystalynn won their local competitions held by the Pella Knights of Columbus on February 14 and the Southeast Iowa Regional competition held in Pella on February 24.
