Anticipation for a new soccer season was in full force last night in Monroe and fans experienced a dandy with the PCM boys defeating Pella Christian 2-1 in overtime.
The Mustangs opened the scoring with a goal by Owen Hugen in the first 10 minutes of the ball game. That scored stayed true until the Eagles’ Daniel Mora had the equalizer in the 75th minute to send it to overtime. Carson Clark was the hero for the Mustangs three minutes into overtime with a goal to start the year with a victory.
PCM (1-0) will get back on the pitch next Thursday in Chariton while Pella Christian (0-1) hosts Albia on Monday.
