Pella vs. Knoxville Girls Tennis
State runners-up a year ago, the new look Lady Dutch tennis team took care of Knoxville 10-1 in a home meet Thursday. Three-time state qualifier and Pella Senior Brooke Jorgensen won 6-1, 6-0 in a No. 1 matchup featuring two state qualifiers, as Knoxville’s Alex Griggs earned a spot in the individual bracket last year. Pella also had singles wins from Hanna Blom, Lisa Dykstra, Abbie Nunnikhoven, Makenzie Van Maanen, and Zoe Card. The Lady Dutch head to Ballard Monday.
Pella Boys Soccer at Winterset
Pella’s soccer team kicked off their Class 2A state championship defense with a win, defeating Winterset 3-1 Thursday night. Pella is looking to gain confidence after graduating 10 players following a championship season last year. Multiple players stepped up for the Dutch and secured the win 3-1 over the Huskies, including two goals from Ben Nelson and another from Denzel Poulter. The 1-0 Dutch travel to Johnston Saturday.
Pella Girls Golf at Lynnville
The Lady Dutch Golf Team had their first win of the season versus Lynnville-Sully and Eddyville-Blakesburg on Thursday night. The Lady Dutch shot a 205 as a team facing cold and windy conditions at the Diamond Trail Golf Course in Lynnville. Leading scores were Medalist Halie Veenstra (47), runner-up medalist Lauren VanWyk (48), Lindsey Roose (53), and Reagan VanWyk (57). Pella is off until April 9th, when they open the conference season.
