The Simpson Storm baseball team split a doubleheader with Cornell College Wednesday, winning game one 5-3 and falling in game two 9-6. Tanner Jansen pitched a gem on the mound, holding Cornell to two hits over the final four innings. He struck out eight and walked three on the day, improving to 3-1 on the season. Nathan Carlin hit a three run home run to lead the Storm offense. In game two, the Storm fell behind early and couldn’t complete the comeback despite a home run bringing the game back within one in the sixth, but three more runs from Cornell sealed the defeat. The Storm are now 9-4 on the season, surpassing last season’s win total with the game one victory.
