The Pella School Board paid tribute to one of their own battling cancer at this week’s meeting.
Superintendent Greg Ebeling says he and the board wore shirts reading “Choose Joy” to support Lisa Jansen, who has been battling cancer since she was diagnosed late last year.
“We are definitely missing Lisa at the board table, she’s been gone for the last several meetings as she’s been taking treatment for cancer,” Ebeling says.
He says the idea for the shirts came from Board President Joan Corbin.
“[Choose Joy] is a statement Lisa would make, and she’s a very positive, upbeat person and just has an infectious personality, and we just wish her the best.”
Jansen was elected to the Pella School Board in 2017. The video below is from the Pella track and field teams:
