The Iowa Economic Development Commission has named Valerie Van Kooten of Pella to its Enhance Iowa Board. Van Kooten is the Executive Director of Pella Historical Society and Museums, which oversees the Pella Tulip Time Festival. Formerly known as Vision Iowa, the Enhance Iowa Board distributes up to $12 million in grants to Iowa projects that promote business and tourism in Iowa. The Vermeer Windmill was the recipient of one of these awards in 2002. According to Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds’ office, Van Kooten was chosen for this Board because of her budget oversight of a major Iowa festival, her work in promoting Pella as a tourist destination, and her background in grant development
