This week is National Volunteer Week. As part of the effort, Pella Regional Health Center is recognizing the volunteers who play a vital role in keeping Pella Regional running. Volunteer Supervisor Rosa Veenstra says in 2018, 9,276 volunteer hours were logged in various departments.
“We couldn’t do without our volunteers,” said. “They help out in a variety of ways throughout Pella Regional. They are a great asset to several departments.”
Pella Regional volunteers welcome patients and visitors, staff the gift shop, bring snacks and knitted items to new families in obstetrics, visit with hospice patients and families, and more. Beth Laux with Hospice of Pella says those who serve in their department deal with what is the most difficult time in both their patients and their families lives.
