Pella Sports Rundown for April 10th:
Pella’s No. 3 ranked girls soccer team handled Indianola with little trouble, winning 10-0 Tuesday. The Lady Dutch had another stellar performance from Grace Held, who scored five goals, giving her 91 in her career as she rapidly approaches 100. Macy Schulz scored twice for Pella. The 3-0 Lady Dutch next head to the ADM invitational Saturday.
The No. 2 in 2A Pella boys soccer team edged Indianola 2-1 yesterday. Jackson Goodyk was able to tie the game before halftime, with Denzel Poulter hitting the game winner after a long pass from John Carlo. Pella next heads to the Cownie Sports Complex in Des Moines — the site of their 2018 state championship win, for a tournament Saturday.
Pella’s No. 3 ranked boys tennis team continued its conference dominance Tuesday with a 10-1 win over Indianola. The Little Dutch had wins in the singles rounds from Jordan Roozeboom, Jack Edwards, Carter Briggs, Vaughn Thompson, and Ezra Blasi. Pella remains undefeated heading into the Knoxville Invitational this Saturday.
The Lady Dutch tennis team was able to bounce back from a tough stretch with a win over Indianola at home yesterday, winning 9-2. Brooke Jorgensen, Hanna Blom, Lisa Dykstra, Abbie Nunnikhoven, Makenzie Van Maanen, and Zoe Card helped Pella sweep the singles matches. The Lady Dutch will see Indianola play again soon — they head to the Indian’s home invitational Friday.
The Lady Dutch Golf Team was edged out by Newton on Tuesday night by three strokes. Pella shot a 203 compared to the Cardinals’ 200. Oskaloosa placed third with a 238. Leading scorers for the Lady Dutch were Lauren VanWyk (49), Halie Veenstra (50), Reagan VanWyk (52), and Karissa Galeazzi (52).
