Shop Local Saturday is coming to Indianola on April 27th, with the Indianola Chamber of Commerce asking residents to spend their day in Indianola to shop and eat at local businesses. Chamber President Brenda Easter tells KNIA News many businesses reported to the chamber the Shop Local Saturday held in November was one of their biggest sales days of the year, and the goal will be to replicate that type of effort from the community.
“We try to stress over and over that it’s important to get your taxes done here, buy tires here, buy cars, buy groceries, check out our boutiques and buy as many things as we can right here because of the tax dollars. The dollars that are spent here, stays here. The money from the local sales tax goes to our schools, our roads, important things that we appreciate when everything is in good shape.”
The Indianola Chamber of Commerce is also asking people to share their experiences from shop local Saturday on social media. The KNIA Big Red Radio will be on location on the downtown Indianola Square, playing music for shoppers.
