A plan to start a STEAM program for students from age four to seven will be brought to the Knoxville School Board at its meeting tonight.
District instructors have been working on introducing a STEM program to the district; this would involve a stronger emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math. A plan to take this one step further for STEAM — adding arts to the mix — would be aimed at students in kindergarten through second grade.
The Board will also discuss its schedule for the month of May; a proposal to start the May 13th meeting a half-hour earlier, and cancel the May 27th meeting which would fall on Memorial Day, will be addressed by the board.
Tonight’s meeting convenes at 5:30 p.m. at the Knoxville School District Administration Building.
