While Pleasantville is doing its annual city clean-up on Saturday, a hazardous waste collection for all residents of Marion County will also be held in conjunction with this event.
The South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency will be collecting household hazardous wastes in parallel with Pleasantville’s clean-up; it will take place from 9:00 a.m. until noon on Pleasant Street across from the Casey’s.
The agency has these remote site collections every year, alternating between Pleasantville and Knoxville; unlike the city clean-up which is strictly for residents of Pleasantville, the hazardous waste pick-up is open to any resident of Marion County.
Pleasantville City Administrator Joe Mrstik tells KNIA/KRLS News this is convenient for those unable to take hazardous items straight to the landfill.
“Normally you have to go for the landfill; however, they do have…sites every year and this site, they’ll have that at this same location we’re going to do the city-wide clean up. That will be over across the street from Casey’s; and they’ll be in a separate area, but they’ll have a trailer and tent and it will be very well-marked,” Mrstik says.
