The Simpson Storm softball team split a doubleheader with Wartburg Saturday afternoon, winning game one 9-5 and falling in game two 8-1. The Storm got up early in game one 4-0, with a pair of doubles and a two-run home run by Sara Trent. Wartburg’s strong offense put them back in the game with a three run third, but the Storm answered back with two more home runs by Megan Crockett. Wartburg loaded the bases with no outs in the 7th, but a heads up double play by Trent sealed the win. In game two, Trent had another home run but the rest of the game was all Knights. The Storm host Grinnell on Tuesday in a doubleheader that begins at 5pm.
