Two major events for current and future kindergarten students in the Knoxville School District are coming up; but instead of combining them into a single day, they’ll be held on separate days.

The annual Kindergarten Roundup will take place on Thursday, May 2nd; information for incoming kindergarten students will be made available this day, and students will be assigned to one of two sessions once class lists are drawn up.

The sessions will go from 8:30 to 10:45 a.m. and 12:30 to 2:45 p.m. New students will require a birth certificate and immunization records.

Normally this event would be combined with Step Up Day, which is designed to give incoming kindergartners a feel for what their new school will be like. But this year, they will be held on separate days; current kindergartners will stay home on May 2nd, and Step Up Day will take place on May 28th for students from kindergarten up through 5th Grade.
