Pella Christian’s unbeaten girls tennis team notched another win Tuesday, defeating Newton 11-0. Singles wins included Morgan Bush, Lizzy Posthuma, Jaden Joy Morgan, Kitty Gu, Megan Kramer, and Kelly Van Wyk. Pella Christian will compete at the Pella High School invitational Saturday.
No. 12 in 1A Pella Christian dominated the Grinnell girls 8-1. The Eagles had two goals each from Avey Amelse and Lindsay Breon, as well as individual tallies for Molly Bolt, Elizabeth Brouwer, Annika Terpstra, and Sarah Gritters. A home matchup with No. 12 in 2A DCG looms on April 29th. Pella Christian’s boys soccer fell to the Tigers at home 4-0.
Eagles track and field boys athletes had a taste of the state qualifying site at the Rocket Relays Tuesday, placing 3rd. Pella Christian scored 101 team points, and had 1st place finishes from Blake Veenstra in the shot put (49-09.5) and discus (155’), as well as the 4×200 (Levi Schelhaas, Jayden Huisman, Lucas Bandstra, Nathan De Bruin – 1:35.42), 4×400 (Bryant Agre, Huisman, Bandstra, De Bruin – 3:34.57), and Distance Medley (De Bruin, Huisman, Bandstra, Agre – 3:49.71) relays. Micah DeHaan placed 2nd in the 3200 and Carson Breon was runner up in the 110 meter hurdles. Most of the Eagles boys will join the girls at the Pella High School invitational Thursday.
The Pella Christian boys golf team placed 13th out of 15 teams at the Osky Invite. Cole Webster shot an 85 to pace the Eagles, followed by 95 each from Micah Mitchell and Kyle Gao, and a PR for Devin Haveman at 99. The Eagles are back in conference action with a triangular at Bos Landen Thursday against Grinnell and Norwalk.
