There will be a new offering for Knoxville High School students this fall; the school is reintroducing a flag line for the marching band.
The Knoxville School Board approved the hiring of a flag line coach during its meeting on Monday night.
District Superintendent Cassi Pearson says the addition of a flag line will help the band when it’s in competition; since it doesn’t have one, it can lose points in competition.
It will also help to draw in students who aren’t in the band but would be interested in taking part in the halftime show in some fashion.
Auditions will begin next week, and the flag line will begin practicing with the marching band over the summer.
