The annual tradition to kick off Tulip Time returns Wednesday night. Jim Hibma with Crossroads of Pella says the annual Klompen Classic begins with the free kids classic at 6 p.m., followed by the 5K at Main and Washington Streets at 7 p.m. Hibma wants participants to remember the impact they have on the people Crossroads assists throughout the year with a variety of needs.

“Because of our donors over the years that developed the organization, they’ve recognized to some extent that even though Pella has a lot of great things and a lot of great people, there are some people who struggle, and those people need help to,” Hibma says. “Part of the idea is that when they are participating in the Klompen, we’d really like them to keep in mind the phrase ‘You’re crossing the finish line to help others.’”

Registration is $25 before race day and $30 on the day of the event, and can be done online at crossroadspella.org, with all proceeds benefiting programs at the non-profit organization.
