Those who want to help support monarch butterflies can do so in Pella by visiting the library. The Pella Public Library will be giving out free milkweed seed Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be several varieties and information available about milkweed and how it can help bolster the monarch population. As part of the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge, which Pella Mayor Jim Mueller joined at the most recent city council meeting, Pella is encouraging residents to plant milkweed to provide habitat for monarch caterpillars.
