Area residents are encouraged to bring their ideas at an upcoming meeting regarding long-term transportation plans between Knoxville and Pella. Marion County and the cities of Knoxville and Pella, in cooperation with Central Iowa Regional Transportation Planning Alliance, is initiating the Knoxville Area Transportation Location Study. The group is hosting a public meeting on Thursday, May 9th from 5-7 p.m. in the Pella Public Safety Complex to introduce the public to details of the study and their role in the process. This study builds on previous efforts for the Knoxville Area Transportation Feasibility Study and aims to provide an economical roadway corridor that serves the commuter and freight needs of Knoxville, Pella, and Marion County. The project aims to utilize existing county road right-of-way where feasible, meet current design and operations standards, consider environmental constraints, and determine the most feasible roadway alignments. There will be no formal presentation, and the public is invited to view exhibits and ask questions of the project team.
