Before Tulip Time, Pella Historical Society aims to remember those who helped settle the community. They invite the public to Oakwood Cemetery on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. to dedicate a grave stone for Moses Post, a circuit-riding Baptist preacher who led Scholte and his group to the area between the Skunk and Des Moines Rivers. Post died soon after Pella was founded, at the age of 35. Although Moses was buried in Oakwood, no stone has existed to mark Post’s grave. Thanks to Garden Chapel Funeral Home and the Pella Community Foundation, Pella Historical Society is dedicating a stone to Moses Post. Dr. Ron Rietveld will lead the brief ceremony.
