Volunteers are still welcome to come out Sunday for THRIVE Knoxville’s annual park clean-up day…which will also see construction of a new park near downtown.
Spring Into Parks will run from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Volunteers will gather at the Knoxville School District’s administrative building; some will remain on site to help build Panther Park, a new park being developed by THRIVE.
Others will be asked to go to Auld Park or Youngs Park to help out with clean-up and maintenance, to get the parks ready for use this spring and summer.
A number of volunteers have signed up in advance, and their actual duties will be assigned to them on Sunday.
Tasks may include raking leaves, picking up trash, repairs and assembly of park furniture and tables, planting trees and other similar jobs.
