Construction has only been underway for about a week, but work on the new Hy-Vee gas station in Knoxville is expected to move quickly.
The new gas station and convenience store is being built on the southwest corner of the Hy-Vee parking lot; Kelly Kayser is store manager for the Knoxville Hy-Vee, and she tells KNIA/KRLS News it’s scheduled to be finished around June 26th, so things will move quickly.
“They dug the hole Wednesday, installed the tank Thursday, they have to let it sit; I believe my building’s coming…the middle of May. So after that they just have to put down the cement, put in my pumps, and we’re good to go,” Kayser says.
The new store is expected to offer hot food items, although the exact content has not been determined; and it will have eight fuel pumps available for customers.
The Knoxville Farmers Market has been using this site for the past few years, and had planned on moving slightly to the east on the south side of the parking lot. Kayser says Hy-Vee is going one better; the market will be invited to set up near the front of the store.
