U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue toured Vermeer Corporation Monday. Perdue visited the Founder’s House, viewed the construction sites for the rebuilding of the plants destroyed by last summer’s tornado, and toured one of the plants as part of his visit. Perdue was complimentary of the rebuilding of Vermeer and how they’ve exceeded the production levels they had prior to the storm despite having less space to operate. Vermeer Chair Mary Andringa says she was able to discuss a wide range of issues as it relates to the corporation’s needs, including finding skilled workers and the impacts of steel and aluminum tariffs. Perdue also met with several Vermeer employees during his visit.
