The Simpson Storm baseball team fell to Wartburg in a doubleheader Monday, falling in game one 6-5 and game two 4-2. Game one saw the Storm trade runs with the Knights all throughout the game, with neither side taking more than a one run lead. Simpson had a 5-4 lead going into the bottom of the eighth inning, but the Knights tied it before eventually going ahead into the ninth. Game two saw the Storm fall behind 2-0 early, but a Brady Held bases loaded hit tied the game at two heading into the later innings. Wartburg once again had the clutch hits late, as they scored once in the 7th and 8th innings to take the victory. The three game sweep keeps the Storm in last place in the American Rivers Conference with a 4-16 record, but have a 12-20 overall record. Simpson will round out the season in a three game series this weekend hosting the Norse of Luther College.
