The Knoxville School District’s current class of kindergartners will give way to next year’s incoming class on Thursday.
West Elementary will host the Kindergarten Roundup in two sessions tomorrow; the incoming students will attend during one of two sessions, while the current ones will stay home for the day.
The object is to give the incoming students a feel for the building; they will have the chance to meet and build a rapport with teachers, as well as experience what a day in kindergarten feels like.
The first session runs from 8:30 to 10:45 a.m., while the second one goes from 12:30 to 2:45 p.m. Kinderprep students will be among those in attendance.
This year’s kindergartners will take part in Step Up Day on May 28th; all students from kindergarten up to fifth grade will move up a grade for one day for the same purpose, to get a feel for what the next level of classes will be like.
