The Indianola 12U One Tribe club volleyball team has advanced to the 2019 AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships in Florida. The team finished in 2nd out of 70 teams at the state tournament hosted by Simpson College earlier in the year to gain entry. Coach Kate Lerseth tells KNIA News this is a huge accomplishment and fantastic opportunity for the girls.

“We’re going to head down the second weekend in June, taking 8 girls down with us. They host at the ESPN Worldwide Center so they have a big parade of champions at the start, then for four days we play in AM and PM waves so we play a lot of volleyball down there. It’s actually not just teams from the US, but international teams as well. We decided to go the club route to really see what kind of competition we can meet up with, and we are excited to show and see what we can do.”

Fundraising opportunities are coming up to help the team make the trip, including a garage sale and pickleball tournament. For more information on the volleyball team, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
